ABSTRACT
Some scholars tend to focus attention on ‘good governance’ as a panacea for eeconomic growth and development in society. This study focuses on the other side of the coin: ‘bad governance,’ here-with positioned as the bane of enduring peace and security and sustainable development of Nigeria. Bad governance tends to frustrate the institutionalization of both peace and security on the one hand, and on the other, creates a stunted, rentier, disarticulated, and grossly underdeveloped Nigerian society.
The study adopted the survey research design and randomly enrolled participants in the study. A total of 100 responses were validated from the enrolled participants where all respondent are staff of state office, Enugu State.
We point out that sustainable development cannot thrive where peace and security is a luxury. No sensible investor will continue to invest in a volatile environment. Indeed, potential investors are scared to invest in such societies. In Nigeria most investors and potential ones have stayed off the country due the unending violent environment.
